About Juan's work:
Chemicals, magnets and motors generate constantly changing patterns. the work raises the idea of landscapes discovered through the visualization of electromagnetism, a natural phenomenon that makes all spaces permeable. The nature of magnetic landscapes is defined by the combination of a position on Earth, the composition of the soil under our feet and the presence of structures made by humans.
The metals that make up the work are subject to change, since their oxidation process is affected by the environment in which they are located. For example, if moisture conditions change abruptly, the work oxidizes and changes consistency and color more quickly.
The relation and the point of view of the spectator to the work also influences the elements which then become perceptible; the oxidation levels and the detail in the color change of the chemical components depend on the viewing angle of the viewer through the magnifying glass.
These works are presented as part of the France-Colombia Year 2017, with the support of the French Institute and the Patronage Committee of the Year, consisting of: Accor Hotels, Airbus, Axa Colpatria, Oberthur, L'Oreal Renault Group, Sanofi, Veolia, BNP Paribas, Casino Group, Schneider Electric, Vinci and Poma.
