Marco Donnarumma

Performer, sound artist, body tinkerer and writer Marco Donnarumma explores the dimensions of the human body in relation to real, virtual and cultural spaces.
 
He is known for his wide range of body-based performances and installations , that include intense physical actions, multi-channel sound, light and video shows,  
large-scale dance, Butoh and media theatre pieces. He tinkers and extends the operational paradigms of sound, machinic and biological media to integrate the human and the technological bodies into new living instances.
 
For his works, Marco Donnarumma makes free and open biotechnologies and bodily interactive systems. His biophysical musical instrument, the Xth Sense, was awarded the first prize in the Guthman New Musical Instrument Competition (Georgia Tech, US, 2012) and is used by creatives worldwide since 4 years.
 
He has performed and spoken in over 50 countries across North and South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe, including among the others events such as ISEA, Venice Biennale, Transmediale, FILE, Panorama, NYEAF, and Sound Art China, and venues like EMPAC, Stanford CCRMA, STEIM, Reina Sofia, CaixaForum Madrid and Le Cube.
 
Currently Marco Donnarumma is a Harvestworks CTE Fellow (New York, US) with support by the Rockefeller Foundation. He's a recipient of a Transitio New Media Art Award, a new work commission by the European Conference of Promoters of New Music, and awards from European Commission, British Council, Creative Scotland and New Media Scotland.
