Claudia Hart

Claudia Hart has been active as an artist, curator and critic since 1988. She creates virtual representations that take the form of 3d imagery integrated into photography, animated loops, and multi-channel animation installations that she thinks of as hybrids between structuralist films and temporal paintings. These contain expressive and sensual female bodies meant to interject emotional subjectivity into what is typically the overlydetermined. Hart is Associate Professor in the department of Film, Video, New Media and Animation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is represented by bitforms gallery, NY.

Hart is currently an Honorary Fellow at Eyebeam Center for Art and Technology, where she will premiere The Alice’s Walking in March 2014 during the Armory fair, followed by an exhibition of Alice’s augmented reality wearables at the IMC Lab and Gallery in Chelsea where she is currently also an artist in residence. At Eyebeam, Hart will also co-curate The New Romantics: Flaneurs of the Internet with Nicholas O’Brien and Katie Torn during Frieze in May 2014, at the same time as opening her third solo  gallery exhibition at bitforms.
